Our engineering programmes are centred on hands-on, project-based learning, providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge to authentic engineering challenges throughout their studies.
We are seeking an inspiring and student-focused educator who can create engaging, collaborative learning environments in which students develop a deep understanding of engineering principles and apply them to practical, multidisciplinary projects. The successful candidate will bring expertise across the thermofluids domain, with particular strengths in engineering thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer, and the ability to connect fundamental theory with real-world engineering applications. They will be passionate about delivering an outstanding student experience, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills, and preparing graduates with the knowledge, confidence and professional capabilities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving engineering profession.
The School of Engineering and Built Environment brings together engineering, construction and surveying, physics and the built environment. With excellent links to industry, we provide applied learning opportunities for students and our graduates perform strongly in the labour market. The University currently enrols eligible academic staff into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), a defined-benefit pension scheme.
Should you be enrolled into TPS, each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/57th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 29% of your salary). For a salary of £35,000, for example, the University would pay just over £10,000 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of £614 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
