£18,000 per year (reviewed after year 1)

We are looking for an IT Support Engineer to join the Fulcrum Group IT team while undertaking a nationally recognised Level 3 IT apprenticeship. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical technical skills through structured training and hands-on experience in a professional IT environment.

Working under the guidance of experienced IT colleagues, the Apprentice IT Support Engineer will provide first-line technical support to employees across Fulcrum Group’s offices and operational sites.

The apprentice will attend all apprenticeship training sessions, reviews and progress meetings, complete apprenticeship assignments, evidence portfolios and assessments within agreed deadlines and apply learning in the workplace to develop increasing technical competence and independence.

Previous IT support experience is not required.

You will need:
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Mathematics, or willingness to achieve the required Functional Skills qualifications
  • A genuine interest in IT and technical problem-solving
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A reliable, organised and professional approach to work
  • A willingness to learn, accept feedback and seek guidance when required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow security procedures
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly between Fulcrum Group locations
In this role, you will:
  • Provide first-line IT support remotely, by telephone and in person
  • Record, prioritise and manage incidents and service requests using the IT Service Desk
  • Diagnose and resolve routine hardware, software, connectivity and access issues
  • Keep users informed of progress and provide clear updates throughout incident resolution
  • Deliver a professional, responsive and customer-focused support service across the Group
  • Configure, prepare and deploy laptops, desktop computers, mobile devices, monitors and peripherals
  • Install approved operating systems, applications, updates and security software
  • Diagnose basic hardware faults and coordinate repairs or replacements where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, users and equipment locations
  • Create, amend and disable user accounts
  • Support new starter, role change and leaver processes
  • Assist users with password resets and multi-factor authentication
  • Perform routine checks on networks, Wi-Fi, printers and other connected devices
  • Assist senior IT colleagues with infrastructure maintenance, upgrades and technical projects
  • Follow Fulcrum Group's cybersecurity, acceptable use, information security and data protection policies
  • Recognise and immediately escalate suspected phishing attempts, malware infections, unauthorised access or potential data breaches
  • Ensure all system changes are authorised, documented and completed under appropriate supervision
  • Maintain accurate service desk records, IT asset registers and software licensing information
  • Produce and update user guides, technical documentation and knowledge base articles
