Why the post exists

Are you passionate about delivering a great social media campaign across multiple channels? Can you work with colleagues to prepare, produce and launch suitable content? If so, you could be our next Marketing team member.

As our Interim Social Media Executive, you will be at the heart of the Chamber’s marketing function, shaping how we connect, engage and grow our community through social media. As our Interim postholder, you will progress the delivery of a dynamic, organisation-wide social media strategy that brings our brand to life and ensures our content is relevant, engaging and member-focused.

You’ll take the lead in creating and producing engaging, original content – from compelling posts to real-time event coverage – ensuring everything we share is relevant, creative and audience-focused. Working across our core channels and key networks – Generation Next, Enterprising Women and the East Midlands Manufacturing Network, you’ll make sure our content stands out and truly connects with our audience.

With a clear focus on performance, you will drive measurable impact by increasing engagement, extending reach and enhancing brand and campaign visibility – ultimately supporting the Chamber’s wider commercial and strategic objectives.

Overview

Key areas of responsibility

  • Develop, implement and manage social media strategies that build brand awareness, generate engagement, traffic, enquiries and sales.
  • Day-to-day management of our social channels: scheduling, monitoring comments, re-sharing and performance reporting.
  • Responsible for the consistent implementation of Chamber brand identity and tone of voice across all social platforms.
  • Champion and develop new and engaging social media content for both the Chamber and its three networks, relevant to audience.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and other departments to co-ordinate engaging campaigns aligning to our objectives.
  • Report monthly on social media statistics and coverage.

Overview

Applicants will possess

  • Enthusiastic and motivated.
  • Marketing degree/CIM/Digital Marketing qualification or equivalent by experience.
  • Experience in a social media role, ideally within business-to-business communications.
  • Demonstrable skills in social media content planning, creation and publishing.
  • Experience of producing content planning, publishing processes and establishing quality standards.
  • Sound knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Confident in recommending creative ideas and communicating to internal and external teams.
  • Understanding of the wider digital marketing landscape.
  • Experience using Canva.
  • Experience of working in a busy marketing team.
  • Willing and able to use own transport to visit other offices and attend events.
  • Must be prepared to work flexibly in terms of working hours.

Step 2: Interview stage

First, you’ll be invited to participate in an in-person interview on 26 August 2026 at the Chesterfield office (S41 8ND). If your interview goes well, you may be invited to attend a second interview or receive an offer.

At the end of each interview, the interviewer will confirm the timeline for next steps.

Virtual interviews are approximately 30-minutes and in-person interviews usually last around an hour. There will be a mix of competency based interview questions and practical tasks.

Step 3: Final decisions

Decisions will be made at each stage of the process, as we score applicants against the role criteria. If you’re successful, we will contact you to make an offer (subject to satisfactory employment checks). This will be followed up in writing and a contract will be sent to you once a start date is confirmed. You will receive information on your induction and what you will do on your first day.
