Residential Practitioner
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Residential Practitioners to join a well-established residential service supporting children and young people. The role involves providing high-quality care and support that promotes safety, stability, and positive development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care for children and young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Act as a key worker, implementing individual care plans, behaviour management plans, risk assessments, and health plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with policy and inspection requirements.
- Support children in education, health appointments, leisure activities, and personal development.
- Promote equality, respecting each child's cultural, religious, and linguistic background.
- Administer medication safely in line with policy and training.
- Support and mentor trainee staff, sharing best practices and professional knowledge.
- Participate in team meetings, reviews, and training to maintain high standards of care.
- Contribute to achieving an Ofsted rating of "Good" or better through consistent and reflective practice.
About You
- Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Workforce (or equivalent) such as NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People, Early Years Education, or Health and Social Care.
- Experience working in a residential childcare environment or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and behaviour management.
- Able to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends, and bank holidays as part of a rota.
- Confident communicator, able to build trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals.
- Resilient, adaptable, and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.
What's Involved
- 24-hour residential care environment for children and young people, some with disabilities, autism, or emotional and behavioural needs.
- Duties include assisting with daily living, personal care, household tasks, and activities.
- Use of petty cash and responsibility for children's belongings and wellbeing during activities and outings.
- Regular engagement with schools, social workers, health professionals, and other agencies to support each young person's plan.
